Solar & Backup Power FAQ
Straight answers for Louisiana and Mississippi homeowners about outages, storms and solar systems that lost their installer.
Will my solar panels work during a power outage?
Most grid-tied solar systems shut off automatically when the grid goes down so they do not send power onto lines crews are repairing. To keep power during an outage you need a battery, a generator integration, or both, with the right transfer equipment.
My solar installer went out of business. Who services my system now?
If you lease your system or have a PPA, the company that acquired your contract is usually responsible for repairs; check your latest statement. If you own your system outright, there may be no successor company. Genesis41 Solutions services any and all solar brands, including leased systems, and can inspect, repair and restore monitoring on orphaned systems in Louisiana and Mississippi.
My solar monitoring app stopped working. Is my system still producing?
Possibly. A dead app often means the communications gateway or the old company's portal is offline, not that the panels stopped. We can check production at the inverter and help reconnect monitoring through the equipment manufacturer where compatible.
What happened to PosiGen customers in Louisiana?
PosiGen ceased most operations in August 2025. Its lease portfolio was later transferred to new servicers, so most lease customers should contact the servicer named on their account. We service any and all solar brands, including leased systems, so owners and lease customers alike can call us for service.
Should I get a home battery or a generator for hurricane season?
Batteries are silent, automatic and need no fuel, and they pair well with solar for long outages. Generators can run as long as fuel lasts. Many Gulf South homes use both. We size the system to the circuits you need.
What solar brands do you service? Do you work on leased systems?
We service any and all solar brands, including leased systems. If your system is leased, check your current lease servicer too, since it may be responsible for some repairs.
What fuel do your standby generators use?
We install Generac home standby generators. Generac home standby generators run on natural gas or liquid propane (LP), depending on the fuel available at your home.
Can you add a battery to my existing solar system?
In many cases, yes, depending on the inverter and equipment. We evaluate your current system first.
What areas do you serve?
Genesis41 Solutions is based in Baton Rouge and serves homeowners in Louisiana and Mississippi, including the greater Baton Rouge area and Slidell and the Northshore (Covington and Mandeville).
